Using Your Cat Grooming Supplies is Essential

Many people believe that they do not need to groom their cats as they are so good at keeping themselves clean.  But some cats do need to be groomed regularly in order to keep them looking glossy and free from infection, etc.  It is true that short haired cats generally do not need a lot of grooming but some of them with thick hair will need to be brushed frequently.  You can get a lot of cat grooming supplies which will help you with this.

Some pedigree cats such as Persians will need to be groomed more regularly due to their longer haired coats.  They should also be bathed at least once every week.  Cats tend to get matted fur especially cats with long hair.  By brushing or combing their coats, you can prevent this from occurring as sometimes the hair will have to be cut away if it is not possible to detangle it.  When using your comb or brush to groom your cat, it is important to be gentle yet firm and only brush in the direction of the hair growth.

You may also notice that sometimes your cat’s eyes need to be cleaned.  You can buy eye wipes either online or from your pet shop to help remove any gunk from their eyes.  Your cat may not like having this done so hold their head firmly but gently while wiping.  You may need to wipe it more than once to make sure all the matter has gone.

As most cats generally do not submerge themselves in water and do not really like water, you will have to try to introduce your cat to water when she is young.  That way you can bathe your cat occasionally with a cat shampoo and your cat will not get too distressed.  It is a good idea to buy eye drops to place in your cat’s eyes before bathing to prevent any shampoo from getting into her eyes.  It is important not to get any water in your cat’s ears so do not pour water directly over your cat’s head.

When you have finished bathing your cat, you can use cat nail clippers to keep her claws at a safe length.  You will then have a beautifully groomed cat with a glossy coat.
